Rakesh Kumar Gupta- born in Delhi in 1960. Did M.A .in drawing & painting. Has been participating in State, National & international exhibitions since 1987. Always been a freelancer& religiously dedicated to painting . Participated in 8th Triennale-India by L.K.A. in 1994.Known for his distinctive style of chopped figures with highly modernistic approach in vibrant colors.His works attracted the attention of Late.Mr.Krishan Chaitanya, the prominent scholar & art critic of his time. In his book titled-‘Contemporary Indian Art’he mentioned about the artist & his style. He did a few solo shows in Delhi including one in Hong kong in 2003.He was awarded M.F.Hussain medal in All India Youth Art Exhibition in1987 & 89.He bagged a few other awards from Sahitya Kala Parishad, AIFACS,Camlin & so on .His works are in collection of National Gallery of Modern Art, Glenbarra art museum –Japan& in private collection in India & abroad. As far as his works are concerned –Human Figures has always been his inspiration . Earlier form & colors played the pivotal role in his paintings. Now, emotions ,state of mind, attitude, visual color, tones, imagery & artistic sensibilities surely conjures the viewer’s mind. As veteran art Critic Shri Keshav malik says that his works have changed from mellow to crisp & bracing. The robust blue lines has almost sculpturesque feel. He says very wisely that the artist has surpassed himself. |
