Pradip Maitra

"I am a loner who must go my own way, reacting to the world around me on my own way"

I felt myself slightly bigger than my stature one day. I was still in my teens then. How could I make a place for myself – I asked and found a myriad of colours that carried me up to a level of consciousness where I could unite myself to infinity. People come rolling like waves, the agony and ecstasy flowing – I felt like water everywhere; transparent, moving water with its cryptic spectrum of colours spreading down the earth, so I made a decision. I made a decision to take watercolour as my medium, and then all was set. I am a loner who must go my own way, reacting to the world around me on my own way, trying to get down on a white piece of paper with some water and pigment a response to the world that is my own.
