This exhibition presents a curated selection of my recent artworks, including paintings and painted sculptures. It showcases a body of work that explores themes such as women’s freedom, the exploitation of nature, and the emotional and psychological dimensions of human life. Through figurative compositions, I attempt to make a visual statement on human emotion, the intricate relationship between nature and humanity, the effects of urbanization on society, and the richness of Indian culture and heritage.
My artistic style is characterised by intricate detail, layered textures, symbolism, and metaphor. My artistic style is characterised by intricate detail, layered textures, symbolism, and metaphor. I often experiment with mixed media and unconventional materials, with a strong emphasis on storytelling and narrative expression. The works featured here span a range of media, including acrylic on canvas, watercolor on paper, reverse painting on acrylic sheet, and painted fiberglass sculptures. One of the significant pieces is a multi-panel work depicting women in contemporary Indian urban life—expressing freedom, courage, self- esteem, and beauty, reflecting the evolving spirit of modern India. The watercolor works on paper reflect my long-standing engagement with the medium, showcasing a distinctly individual approach. For me, color holds greater significance than form—my intention is to create vibrant compositions in which color exists independently, not merely to define shape but to evoke mood and perception.
My inspiration includes the legendary artist and scholar K.G. Subramanyan, my teacher at Kala Bhavana, Santiniketan during the 1980s. I also deeply acknowledge the love, care, and support of my late wife, Jayanti, whose presence continues to inspire my work.
This exhibition is not just a display of my recent creations—it is a reflection of my commitment to society and my responsibilities as an artist.
